In this article, we will solve why some RCA projectors sounds, are not working, causes and solutions and also alternative methods of getting sound to work on not only from the RCA projector speakers, but also through external speakers.

Before we get into any real diagnostics and possible causes, please check to see that the projector volume  and laptop volume has been turned up, a lot of the times, it is usually the silliest causes, is that the volume is turned down too low to even be able to hear anything coming out of the speakers.

Do note, that the causes of the problems may be different for  everyone, if one solution does n’t work, do try all the others.

Before we begin, I want to say that the best way to solve technical problems, is to figure out the cause and the cause of this whole thing is that the sound format or encoding that has been given out by the DVD player, Netflix app or Sat Box is not recognized by the RCA projector, this is the main cause, but it could be caused by other things.

Common causes of why an RCA projector is not producing sound

Bad cable

Easiest solution is that the HDMI cable is not working properly and needs to be replaced. HDMI cables are available cheaply on Amazon, click here to check it out.

Dolby Surround sound not recognized

This solution is one of the more prevalent cause of RCA projector sounds not working.

Dolby Surround sound as we might be familiar with, is a technology used for cinema sounds which helps with the realisticness of sound, this feature or audio encoding is used mostly with the more bigger projectors that have the hardware to decode and play Surround sound.

For the much smaller RCA projectors, surround sound engine is not present for most of the smaller projectors, that it why it is recommended to switch to PCM mode when sound is not coming.

So instead of Dolby Surround sound, set your sound setting to PCM instead of Surround sound, PCM can be set from the DVD player and also on the Netflix app, so basically, avoid Surround sound input into the projector.

Get a sound bar (another work around).

So a quick work around if your RCA projector sound is not working, is to get a sound bar.

A sound bars that accepts 5.1 audio can be used in place of the tiny projector speakers, a HDMI input selector with audio extractor, which are available cheaply on Amazon, will enable you to stream sound through a HDMI cable and pipe the sound into a sound bar using an AUX connection, not only will it be able to play Surround sound, but also will be able to give a much fuller sound with a sound bar.
